Color Riot Blanket

Updated: Nov 8, 2022

A blanket crocheted on the bias in multiple diagonal stripes of color. A

neutral contrasting color helps to even out the different hues and tones.

The stitch has wonderful drape for optimum snuggling. Simply perfect for

stash-busting.

The Inspiration

I have designed a lot of blankets lately and my main goal has been to use up the scraps I have on hand before I move. The first scrap blanket I made is called the Scrap Year Afghan and is available as a paid pdf in my shop. However, after I finished that blanket, would you believe that I still had enough scraps for another blanket? Well, that is how Color Riot came to be. As with my other scrap blanket, I was not sure that I was going to like it so I chose a family member I would gift it to to keep me motivated. I did not expect to love the way it came out so much that I wanted to keep it, but I did!

Notes

  • Instructions are given for how to create a stripe pattern as pictured for this blanket. However, as few as 1 or many more colors can be used.

  • Blanket is crocheted on the bias beginning with one corner. Stitches are increased until desired width and worked straight for desired length. Decreases are then worked on each row to the corner.

  • Ch 2 at the beginning of each row counts as a 1 sc + 1 ch stitch.
